See bulletin Video Winter brings a lot of slick roads and icy driveways. Along with those icy conditions comes the salt and sand that really does a lot of damage to our vehicles. Rust is not an uncommon thing to see among cars in the north! That’s why during the winter, you’ll see a lot of discounts and deals on all kinds of carwashes that clean off that rust forming salt and sand. The Apostle Paul spoke the Christians in Corinth about the sinful corrosion and rust of this world. He warned them, “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10) Today we learned about God’s righteousness and the right way He wants us to live our lives. The Lord speaks clearly through Paul that practicing such things in unrepentance nullifies our eternal, heavenly, inheritance in Christ’s kingdom! That’s as serious as it gets! But Paul’s warning is a call to repentance! Paul goes on to say in the next verse, “And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:11) Paul says you “were washed.” In your baptism you were called into God’s family through the Gospel of Christ. Cleansed in the power of His covenant of blood through the washing of that Word of promise with the water. In that free forgiveness of God’s love, you are a new creation! You are God’s special child! What a deal! Knowing this, may we all who “were washed” seek to live a clean and pure life free from the slippery road of sin that would rust the brilliance of our faith in our Lord and Savior!
