See bulletin Video Nightmares make us thankful for the ability to 'wake up' from a desperate situation! Many nightmares that I have had involved being trapped buried alive or in a corner with a ferocious beast or figure closing in. That feeling of helplessness and not being able to escape is truly a nightmare indeed! But the reality even when we wake up is far more frightening! The Children of Israel knew that feeling! They had walked out of Egypt free from their evil slave masters. But they had been trapped and cornered up against the Red Sea with no where to turn... but to the Lord. In Exodus 15:1-3 we read with relief what happened after the Lord interceded in their nightmare. After they crossed the Red Sea on dry ground, the Lord delivered them from the Philistine army! The Israelites response was what you would expect! "Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the LORD, and spoke, saying: "I will sing to the LORD, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea! The LORD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father's God, and I will exalt Him. The LORD is a man of war; The LORD is His name." The Israelites sang songs of praise and victory for God's deliverance! In this short life, we Christians fight a nightmare war against a ferocious beast. Satan and his legions of evil angels contiguously try to trap us into corners! They try to literally trap us in temptations, make us feel helpless, desperate, and totally alone. Simply put, they want us to feel like we stand alone and that giving in to the darkness is inevitable. They want us to surrender. But just as we were slaves to sin, Jesus has come to deliver us and give us victory by destroying the power of our enemies sin, death, and the devil's armies! The power of His Holy and innocent blood shed lovingly on the cross cleanses us from all sin! And His resurrection from the dead gives us the confident hope of eternal life! What does all this mean for you and me? We have reason to join the Children of Israel in songs of victory! We have reason daily to praise Christ our RISEN Savior for our eternal salvation! Hallelujah! Amen! +++ This Sunday we'll have our Post-Easter Song Service where we will do just that! Here's a little warm up until then... http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=i'm+alive+i'm+alive+because+he+lives&qs=AS&sk=&FORM=QBVR&pq=i'm%20alive%20i'm%20alive%20because%20&sc=8-28&sp=1&qs=AS&sk=#view=detail&mid=1B8E873C1C5CE422DAAA1B8E873C1C5CE422DAAA
