Sunday bulletin We're attempting to celebrate my son's birthday today. You know what I mean by attempting. There's always plenty to do and its go go go and rush rush rush to get everything in that we hope and expect it all to happen. Being intentional for a birthday means setting aside time to spend with the family and with siblings so that the celebration shows to the birthday boy or girl how special he or she is to you. With just a week away from our Savior's birthday celebration, are you and I being intentional? Are we trying to prepare so that Jesus knows how special He is to you and to me? We can very easily struggle with not making the day about Him. We are selfish and very self-serving at time. Even in all our preparations we make for family and friends, isn't part of the temptation to fill our credit and praise seeking hearts? That's not what we see from Jesus. As the excitement draws closer we can look forward to Him bringing His gifts to us on His birthday! Gifts of His peace, joy, and eternal love! Can we find those gifts on the store shelves? No, we find them in the Word of God our LORD who continues to remind us of one simple truth again this Christmas... "For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6 Jesus invites us, to invite others to His birthday celebration. And its pretty simple, He wants to give everyone His gift of salvation!
